Contemporary approaches to training graphic artists (the role of master classes and creative projects in shaping professional skills)

Abstract

This article examines the integration of master classes into the educational process of an art university with the aim of improving the quality of student training. Sessions with renowned specialists contribute to student’s professional growth, allowing them to adopt their mentors’ experience and master cutting-edge techniques. The authors pay particular attention to issues of intergenerational continuity and the preservation of traditions within modern creative education, emphasizing the necessity of integrating artist’s practical activities into the curriculum. By the example of the Department of Graphics at the Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Institute of Arts presents a successful case study of implementing such initiatives, demonstrating their effectiveness in developing creative abilities and shaping the professional competencies of future graphic artists. The novelty of the research lies in a systematic approach to considering the master class as a tool for modernizing art education, ensuring its alignment with contemporary challenges and the needs of the art market. The relevance of the topic is dictated by the need to search for innovative methodologies that facilitate not only the transfer of professional skills and knowledge but also the cultivation of a unique artistic vision and the formation of an original style in the younger generation of artists.
